Overall Job Objective


The City of Littleton's Economic Development Department has an opening for an Economic Development Specialist I - Business Development Analyst. 

The primary function of an employee in this position is to perform economic development activities related to business attraction, retention and growth. This employee is expected to meet with business owners, perform functions related to business attraction, use and maintain information resources and databases, prepare for and present on business related topics and write reports related to departmental activities.

Additionally this position will have heavy administrative duties including:

  • Business database management in our Salesforce system
  • Business meeting requests management
  • Contract management
  • Event planning and management
  • Credit card management and reconciliation
  • Website updates; including our City of Littleton and Go2Littleton websites

Essential Duties & Reponsibilities

  • Meet with business owners and staff to assess needs, develop and advise on strategies for development and growth
  • Use departmental and other databases to research and compile information useful for business development
  • Assist with outreach efforts and marketing of resources/services to the business community; including business education sessions, presentations and development of marketing information for websites, social media and printed materials
  • Work cooperatively with other city departments, the City Council and the City Manager in service of the business owners and citizens
  • Assist with the research and compilation of information requested for business owners or site selectors; including ability to do online research and use a variety of databases
  • Provide information and/or make presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups, businesses owners, citizens, and the general public on economic development issues, programs, services, and plans
  • Become familiar with the business community, existing inventory of available buildings, and business and residential development sites within the community. This will include both public and private buildings and land areas. Be knowledgeable in federal, state and local regulations for businesses
  • Maintains a liaison with various local, federal, state and local agencies and non-profits, coordinating projects as deemed necessary and appropriate
  • Attend meetings as required including, city council, business and civic associations, boards and commissions and staff
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

In addition to the essential duties/responsibilities the "Business Development Analyst" will also be required to do:
  • Contact Littleton business owners and other departments to collect, organize, and document information about local businesses in the designated business master database
  • Research and stay current on available commercial properties
  • Manage the Revitalization Incentive Grant
  • Manage requests for incentives under the Economic Incentives Policy
  • Provide information to those starting a business in Littleton and manage meeting requests from business owners and developers
  • Serve as city/department liaison with business/community organizations
  • Provide first point of contact for businesses, citizens, and others who interface with the Economic Development department
  • Provide administrative assistance with event and meeting planning and management, credit card purchase reconciliation, budget review and updates, Economic Notes and Monthly Reports on departmental activities
  • May serve as an Emergency Worker

Education, Formal Training & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Requires an equivalent combination of formal education, training, or experience, resulting in the knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the essential and specialized duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Experience as a business owner, or minimum one year experience working with businesses
  • Requires a valid Colorado Driver's License and qualifying driver's history to operate a vehicle to travel to work and other locations as required
  • Experience in a government position is a plus

  • Computers, laptops, iPads, software, databases, photocopiers, faxes, phones, digital cameras and audio-visual equipment

  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing up to 20 pounds, including personal computer components and audio-visual equipment; occasionally climb stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel to operate computers and audio/visual equipment; frequently operate controls on computers and equipment. Requires: frequent ordinary talking to establish and maintain; verbal communications in-person and by telephone; hearing with sufficient acuity to hear conversation, in-person and by telephone, operate computers and give audio-visual presentations; seeing with near and far acuity, depth perception, field of vision, color vision to operate computers and audio-visual equipment, cameras, and vehicles and to see work products and people
