The City of Littleton is looking for a Marketing and Special Events Intern to help assist with the busy summer events season.  Ideal candidates should currently be enrolled in a degree program (undergraduate or masters) in communications, marketing, media, or a similarly related field. 

The Marketing/Special Events Intern will work with the Communications team on a variety of exciting events over the summer season.  These events will include the Littleton Twilight Criterium, the Little Jams concert series, etc.   This is an exciting opportunity to learn about large scale event planning and execution.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for college students looking for a background in Special Events, Marketing and Media. You will have the opportunity to work on sponsorship relationships and implementation plus working on different kinds of advertising. This is a great opportunity to learn all aspects of a communications department and work with our Littleton team and make connections for future opportunities.

 

Individuals who apply should currently be college or University level students in a Communications based field.  The ideal intern will have excellent customer service skills and will be extremely detail oriented.  Successful interns will have superb organizational skills and be excited to learn all the marketing aspects of running large-scale public events.

Starting pay at or near $19.00 per hour

Salary range: $19.00 to $21.00

 

This part-time temporary position is non-exempt per FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.

 

Work Schedule: 

Ideal start date for this internship will be May 30, 2023.

This position will work 10 - 15 hours a week for most weeks in the summer, with some longer weeks and days.

The following nine events will be required between June and August:

 

Saturday, June 3 - Little Jam (Sterne Park)

Thursday, June 8 - Boards and Commissions Dinner (Littleton Museum)?

Wednesday, June 21 - Meet, Greet and Eat

Saturday, July 15 - Little Jam - Sterne Park

Wednesday, July 19 - Meet, Greet and Eat

Saturday, August 5 - Criterium (Downtown)

Saturday, August 12 - Little Jam (Sterne Park)

 

Hours could be long and will include one twelve (12) to fourteen (14) hour day on August 5.

 

This posting will remain open until finalists are identified or the position is filled. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with sponsorship solicitation
  • Assist with sponsorship implementation
  • Coordinate food trucks for events to include communicating with trucks, map creation and timing.
  • Help with set up and tear down of each event.  Able to work after hours and weekends for events.
  • Assist with vendor timelines, directions and questions.
  • Assist with pre-event and day of logistics.
  • Assist with social media marketing of events.
  • Assist with media for the Littleton Twilight Criterium
  • Post event wrap up.  This will include creating and sending Thank You notes to vendors, volunteers, etc.
  • Coordinate large mailings.
  • Attend all event planning meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently a BA, BS or MA candidate, OR recent graduates as of last semester.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle records check.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about marketing and will be available on the dates outlined above.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Requires the ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Other physical activities include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
